11.How is Foie gras (goose liver) made?

According to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), which is based in Washington, D.C. and is the largest nonprofit organization advocating animal rights in the world, Foie gras (French for “fatty liver”) is the product of extreme animal cruelty. Factory farms produce it by force feeding ducks so much that their livers become diseased and enlarged. This causes a tremendous amount of suffering and can make it difficult for the birds to walk and breathe normally.
However, there are many people who are fond of this traditional French cuisine.

  1. Hi Shinji,
I'm glad to see that you're using multiple sources and summarizing them clearly and concisely. Blogs are places where people are expected to express their opinions as well. So, please don't forgot to say what you think about what you're reporting. For example, the fact that you thought of asking the question "How is Foie gras (goose liver) made?" indicates that you might have known that some cruelty was involved. I'd be interested to know if you think this is justified cruelty or unacceptable. I would also like to know if your opinion changed about your issue based on the research that you've done.
    Cheers,
    Joseph D.
