  1. These are a great set of questions, Shinji and Kento. I'm personally curious about some of them and I look forward to the fruits of your research. For example, I wonder how much Japanese (and American, for that matter) school children learn about animal welfare in school. Your question asking what would happen if animals could speak seems amusing at first, but when we think of the horrors that farm animals go through every day, we have to wonder if we'd be able to bear what they'd be trying to tell us. There are some people who have the remarkable ability to understand animals despite their inability to speak. A fascinating autistic woman named Temple Grandin is one such person. She learned how to "read" the emotions of cows to the extent that she became an adviser to companies that handle cattle. There's a BBC documentary about her called “The Woman Who Thinks Like a Cow" which I would recommend.
